Preparing for Childbirth - 4 WEEK SERIES

Your class starts on the date you register for, and runs on the same day of the week, and at the same time, for 4 total weeks. 

JULY, 2024:

July 9, 6:00 – 9:00 PM

July 16, 6:00 – 9:00 PM

July 23, 6:00 – 9:00 PM

July 30, 6:00 – 9:00 PM

AGENDA:

CLASS 1: learn about the anatomy of a pregnant body, tackle the fear of pain, explore Lamaze's 6 Healthy Birth Practices, and learn how to recognize when labor begins.

CLASS 2: learn all about physiological birth (meaning: what happens if your body gives birth all on its own), practice labor positions and comfort measures, and talk about ways for birth partners to support during labor.  We'll also watch a few G-rated birth videos in this class.

CLASS 3: learn the pros and cons of common medical interventions (epidurals, inductions, c-sections, and more) and tools for advocating for yourself in labor, as well as strategies for flexing if birth doesn't go according to plan.  We'll watch a G-rated c-section in this class.

CLASS 4: learn what to expect in the first few hours post birth, including: healing your body, baby's first feed and common newborn interventions (for a more comprehensive dive into postpartum, feeding babies, and newborns, check out our other classes).

LOGISTICS:

• Class is held in The Nest Retreat Center, located in Suite 200 (second level) of the Shoreview Professional Building. 
• Free parking is available in the building's lot, and there is an elevator. 
• We will provide chairs and exercise balls to sit on.  You're welcome to bring your own chair, blanket, snacks etc. to keep yourself comfortable. 
• We'll take one break from roughly 7:30-7:45pm.
• Partners are highly encouraged to attend for free (only the pregnant person needs to buy a ticket!).

This class is available at a discount for our doula clients as part of the birth doula package.
